Jewish-French entertainer Gad Elmaleh (one of France’s best-loved comedians) cowrote, directed, and stars in this comedy of spiritual discovery that blends fiction and autobiography. Undergoing a crisis of faith, the actor-comedian returns home to Paris. When his bewildered parents (portrayed by Elmaleh’s actual mother and father) discover a figurine of the Virgin Mary in his suitcase, he admits he is planning to be baptized a Catholic. Gad’s family and friends balk at this revelation, and he struggles to make them understand his sincere beliefs while grappling with his own uncertainties.
