Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning is a world pioneer in the field of adult Jewish education, offering a first-class curriculum created by scholars and educators at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. There are 50 Melton Schools in 47 cities throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, New Zealand, and Hong Kong attended weekly by some 4,000 students. Closer to home, there is a network of Melton Schools in New York City, but The Melton School of MetroWest is one of the largest Melton School sites in the world and the only site in New Jersey.  The JCC of MetroWest is privileged and pleased to host the Melton School which is a valuable resource in our Community and beyond.

What We Study • Core Curriculum

The Core Curriculum is a sequential series of text-based lessons, comprised of four courses. Each course focuses on at least one major area of Jewish learning and integrates Jewish history, religion, ritual, language, ethics, philosophy, literature, theology, and contemporary Jewish Life.

What We Study • Grad School

The Rachel Wasserman Scholars Curriculum presents classic and modern texts that have shaped Jewish perspectives for thousands of years and invites students to lend their voices to the ageless pursuit of Jewish wisdom. Shiv’Im Panim and Jewish Civilization courses are available.

PARENTS OF PRESCHOOLERS

Foundations of Jewish Family Living provides you:

  • A thought-provoking encounter with the core values and ideas of Judaism.
  • The learning, language and the confidence to be a teacher to your own children and support Jewish learning at home. 
  • Meaningful connections to PJ Library books and the Shalom Sesame video series. 
  • A 10-session course, meeting approximately once a month from November through June.
