Camp Deeny Riback in Flanders, NJ is seeking Camper Advocates for the 2024 summer camp season.
Camper Advocates are people who:
– enjoy working with children and youth with varying needs.

This is a great opportunity for college students and above looking to gain experience in an inclusion program while having fun outdoors
Nature and Scope
With the support of the Inclusion Coordinator, the Camper Advocate will provide support to one assigned camper within a group setting. The main function of this role is providing support to a camper with varying needs throughout the camp day to ensure they have a successful camp experience.
Work Schedule
• Seasonal; Monday-Friday, June 24, 2024 – August 16, 2024 9:00 am – 5:00 pm,
No camp Thursday July 4th
• Attends regular staff meetings and fully participates in all pre-camp trainings.
Responsibilities
• Provide one on one support to one camper with additional needs.
•Work with Inclusion Coordinator to develop strategies to manage behavioral incidents and implement behavioral redirection techniques when needed
• Work with other counselors in the assigned group to ensure a smooth transitions and interactions.
Requirements
• Minimum High school diploma or equivalency
• Experience working in a summer camp a plus
• Experience with behavior management and working with children and youth with varying needs (desired)
• Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and conflict resolution skills
• Strong teamwork and leadership skills
