MetroWestTouchless Weapons Detection Screening System
Beginning on May 29, 2026, all guests and staff will be required to proceed through a weapons detection system when entering JCC MetroWest.
A list of frequently asked questions can be found below about the new process.
● Why are we implementing this?
The safety of our guests and staff is our number one priority. JCC MetroWest is implementing weapons detection technology to elevate the overall security posture of our property and to align with industry standards. As a recognized leading community center, JCC MetroWest is continuously evaluating security best practices to support the safety and well-being of our community.
● Why is JCC MetroWest doing this now?
As screening technology has continued to advance, we believe this is the right time to introduce a system that strengthens security while allowing for a smooth and efficient entry experience for guests and staff.
● Has JCC MetroWest had a problem with attendee safety in the past?
This decision is not in response to any specific incident or threat against our property or community. It reflects our continued prioritization of safety for all guests and staff, and our proactive approach to enhancing security measures.
● What is the technology that will be implemented to use onsite?
CEIA Opengate is a non-intrusive, touchless walk-through weapons detection system that can differentiate between threats and non-threats both on an individual and in the bags they’re carrying.
● What type of scans will there be?
We will be conducting weapons detection screening at our 2 Main Entrances along with the theater for special events. CEIA Opengate will be utilized for all people entering the venue.
● Where will the scanning entrances be located?

● What happens to items that are prohibited or confiscated?
Firearms and illegal items will be turned over and dealt with by our Security Department. All other non-prohibited items will be returned to their owner after scanning is complete.
● What is the process?
Attendees should walk right though in a single file line, without stopping, and without emptying their pockets. Our Security guards will direct you if you alert the machine.
