Celebrate the High Holiday season with books, inspiration, and a chance to win! The Reads of Awe challenge invites you to explore Jewish stories and ideas while playing our special Reading Bingo. Submit your card and you could win a featured book from our 2025–26 Lifelong Learning Book Club series.

How it works:

When: From Rosh Hodesh Elul (Aug 24, 2025) through Oct 17, 2025
Who: Everyone is welcome—avid readers, casual readers, Jewish or not!
What to do:

• Read any book(s) you choose—one per square or multiple squares per book.
  Aim for a single square, a bingo, blackout, or any fun pattern.
• Submit your completed Bingo Card by Oct 17 (drop it in Steiner Court or email it to [email protected].)
• The first 25 participants with the most marked squares will receive a free book!

More About “Reads of Awe”:

The “Reads of Awe” project features a unique reading Bingo Card, which was created by Zoe Kaplan (z”l). Zoe was the daughter of Geri Garfinkel-Gershon, the Jewish Lifelong Engagement Director at the Asheville JCC. Zoe designed the card to motivate individuals to delve into various Jewish literature to prepare for the upcoming Jewish year. She envisioned the project as a Jewish book reading marathon, encouraging people to read as many kinds of Jewish books as possible during the 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
