Camp Events

Maccabiah

Welcome to the main event ladies and gentlemen. Maccabiah is our version of Color War at CDR. The entire camp is split into Blue and Red with a new theme every year. For example, the Maccabiah theme for Summer 2023 was Survivor. Our LITS and Sport Specialists are “judges” that wear purple (the color when you mix red and blue.) Throughout a 3 ½ day span campers have a fun competition that involves teamwork, spirit, and sportsmanship. For campers that do not necessarily enjoy the higher intensity of Maccabiah, we provide other programming that counts in Maccabiah to make sure all campers have a great Maccabiah experience. It is a long 3 days but it always ends with our entire CDR community coming back together as one and is such a great experience and highlight of every summer.

Boker Tov

This means GOOD MORNING! This is where campers and staff meet every morning before we begin our day. At Boker Tov, we go over any important announcements that need to be addressed before the day begins. Birthday shoutouts, Hebrew word of the day, joke of the day, and some fun and silly contests are just a few things you may see at a CDR Boker Tov. There is music, dancing, smiles, and FUN! What else could you really ask for!?

Shabbat

Every Friday afternoon we gather as an entire camp to wind down and have a magical end to the week. We sing songs, light the Shabbat candles and give our “COW” (Counselor of the week) awards. Campers and staff will receive challah and we will discuss one of our Jewish Values and why it is important to utilize it in your everyday life. This is a great way to come together after all the shenanigans from the week and start afresh week the following Monday.
