Tuesday, January 28
Meet at the JCC and we will travel together to JFK to catch our nonstop South African Airways flight to Johannesburg.

Arrive in Cape Town

Wednesday, January 29
We’ll be greeted at the airport and escorted to our upscale seaside hotel. En route to our hotel we will have a guided orientation tour of Cape Town. Later we will have an orientation briefing and a welcome dinner. Meals included: Dinner

Explore Cape Town

Thursday, January 30
Journey to see many of the city highlights including a ride by cable car to the top of the Table Mountain for glorious city and bay views. Continue to the District Six Museum which documents a vibrant neighborhood destroyed under apartheid. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Cape Town

Friday, January 31
Take a scenic drive passed steep mountains, secluded coves and sweeping beaches en route to the southern tip of the Peninsula. Arrive at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Savor the stunning views of the coastline where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. After a group lunch continue on to the South Africa Jewish Museum, the Cape Town Holocaust Center and the Great Synagogue to round out our afternoon tour which illustrates the Jewish side of Cape Town. Enjoy dinner on your own. Dining options within walking distance. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

Cape Town: Wineland Region & Township Tour

Saturday, February 1
Travel to culturally and historically significant Stellenbosch, a quaint town filled with wineries. Stop at an estate for a wine tasting and have the opportunity to explore the gardens. Take a unique journey through the history of South Africa, divided into what is referred to as “The Three South Africa’s” from the monumental turning point in the Birth of South Africa to the now-decaying ruins of Apartheid South Africa to the townships of the New South Africa. End the day with a Shabbat Dinner. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Cape Town/Kruger National Park

Sunday, February 2
We will leave Cape Town aboard a short flight to Johannesburg, South Africa’s vibrant commercial and diamond mining center. Descend into the Lowveld area in the providence of Mpumalanga (“place of the rising sun”) that enjoys sub-tropical climate, abundant sunshine and lush covered hills and valleys. Arrive at your hotel near the renowned Kruger National Park, South Africa’s premier game sanctuary. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Kruger National Park Safari

Monday, February 3
Today is devoted to game drives in Kruger Park. We will take a morning game drive, in open vehicles, in search of the parks many residents including lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos and hopefully the more elusive leopards. We may also spot hippopotamus and crocodiles, zebras and giraffes. After a break for lunch, continue our thrilling exploration with an afternoon safari. Later return to our hotel where you may relax poolside before enjoying dinner. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Final Day/Departure

Tuesday, February 4
After breakfast, check out of our hotel and leave the Kruger Park area. We’ll see Sabie, a small rural town nestled in a deep valley on the escarpment of the Drakensberg mountain range. Proceed to the town of Lydenburg, situated at the foothills of the famous Long Tom Pass and surrounded by the Steenkampsberg and Mauchsberg mountain ranges, the highest points in Mpumalanga. Late afternoon/early evening arrive at Johannesburg airport. Depart on our nonstop flight back to JFK. Meals included: Breakfast

Return to USA in the Morning

Wednesday, February 5
Arrive at JFK and we will travel as a group back to the JCC. Our memorable journey to South Africa has come to an end.
