Belle da Costa Greene: A Librarian’s Legacy
The Morgan Library & Museum presents a major exhibition devoted to the life and career of its inaugural director, Belle da Costa Greene, J. P. Morgan’s personal librarian. As discussed in the New York Times Bestseller, The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray, Greene, a Black American woman was forced to hide her true identity and pass as white in order to leave a lasting legacy.
SCHEDULE:
9am Pick-up at Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest Campus, 901 NJ-10E, Parking Lot C (6 person minimum)
9:30am Pick-up at the JCC MetroWest, West Orange
11am Lunch at the Morgan Café, choice of 2 entrees (not kosher)
1:30pm Docent tour-Belle da Costa Greene: A Librarian’s Legacy Exhibit
3pm Leave the museum
