Camp Business Manager

The Business Manager is responsible for the daily oversite of all financial business relating to the JCC, vendors, partner organizations and camp staff. The business manager is expected to meet with the assistant director and the accounting office at the JCC to train and have a comprehensive understanding of the business needs of camp.

Our camps incorporate the five 21st Century Skills in all aspects of camp life. We believe experiences and skills at camp contain life lessons which travel with campers as they grow older. These lessons prepare our campers to become leaders when they eventually enter the “real world.” The fast-paced camp environment, packed with excitement and transitions, requires campers to learn how to think on their feet. Our counselors guide campers to think about the circumstances of each situation and their reactions. This allows campers to decide how to best approach each situation they are faced with. We embrace these five “super skills”:

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving | Creativity and Innovation | Communication and Collaboration Flexibility and Adaptability | Initiative and Self-Direction

Business Manager: Reports directly the Assistant Director Age: 21+

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with the directors, unit heads and program coordinators to understand the supply needs for camp
  • Order and plan out orders for all supplies and swag for camp with assistance from the Assistant Director
  • Meet with the Assistant Director to review all accounting procedures and policies within the first week of work
  • Oversee all invoices and bills and process payment requests for all vendors and ensure all required documents are filed properly
  • Keep detailed records of all payments and requests in camp budget excel sheets
  • Keep detailed records of camp store sales and orders
  • Oversee payroll for all of camp
  • Manage milk reimbursement from the state of NJ
  • Assist office staff when needed during camp hours
  • Oversee production for playbill for camp musical
  • Learn how to use Campminder camper and staff management system
  • Address any concerns or needs in a timely manner to the Assistant Director

General Tasks of All JCC Staff:

  • Participation in staff meetings and training seminars, as assigned
  • Support the mission of the JCC MetroWest

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal (relationship development) and communication skills
  • Must demonstrate the aptitude and willingness to be a visible and active team player
  • Good critical and creative thinking skills
  • Good organizational and computer skills
  • Mature disposition, creative, outgoing and energetic personality
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail and ability to work independently; a self-starter
  • Sense of humor and serious interest in having fun

Camp is a very fast paced environment as we try to make magic happen for our campers in a very short amount of time. We ask anyone joining the Camp Deeny Riback team to come with an open mind and a sense of humor! We do our best to make sure that everyone, not just the campers enjoy their summer at camp!

 

Dates of Work:
May 27th to June 21st – 15 hours per week paid hourly
June 24th to August 16th – Summer Salary
August 19th to 23rd – 15 hours per week paid hourly
