Aquatics Director, Camp Deeny Riback

Camp Deeny Riback in Flanders, NJ is seeking an Aquatics Director for the 2026 summer camp season. Join our team and make a difference in the lives of others while sharing your love for swimming and waterfront activities!

As Aquatics Director at Camp Deeny Riback, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of campers ages 3 to 14 by overseeing activities and staff at two pools and a lake. Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supervise and support the Heads of the Upper Pool, Junior Village Pool, and Lake
  • Conduct lifeguard evaluations at least twice each summer
  •  Ensure that everything at the lake is set up correctly and being utilized
  •  Attend morning leadership meetings and disseminate information to team members
  •  Maintain and practice lost swimmer procedures and run weekly lifeguard in-service training
  •  Assist with special water events in cooperation with the Camp Programming/Activity team
  • Provide lifeguarding service during scheduled swim times
  • Provide swimming instruction and support for other pool related programs
  • Monitor pool areas to identify any safety issues and provide assistance and protection to participants
  •  Maintain pools and filters
  •  Rescue distressed persons, using rescue techniques
  •  Maintain a safe pool environment including keeping the pool, deck and surrounding areas clean and free of hazards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. Job duties may be subject to change pursuant to the activities of the camp, camp needs, and the organization as a whole.
  • Additional Information:
  • The Aquatics Director will be a full-time temporary/seasonal employee who works Monday through Friday from June 22, 2026 through August 14, 2026 (camp is closed on Friday, July 3rd) with various training dates leading up to the camp season (May 31, June 3, 5-7, 21)
  • Generous discount for children of employees to attend camp

Qualifications:

  • Current Red Cross (or equivalent) Lifeguard Certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of camp (we will provide the training for certification). However, if not currently certified, candidates must first pass a swim assessment before a job offer and certification training are provided
  • Minimum of 3 years lifeguarding and supervisory experience

Salary: $6,600 – $7,000
