With the backdrop of today’s rise in white supremacy and violence, two New Jersey women, one Muslim and one Jewish, join hands to build a powerful movement to turn strangers into sisters. Overcoming a long history of distrust between their two religions, they establish the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom, establishing a nationwide network of hope in a time of chaos and hate.
BOUNTY: The Woman Who Heard Too Much
Director: Danielle Durchslag
2020, 3 minutes
In her BOUNTY series, the director makes video collages that subvert familiar cinematic audio and images to explore political and psychological complexities of American-Jewish wealth. A suspenseful scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much is transformed into the story of a Jewish mother who is emotionally overcome at a live performance of music from Fiddler on the Roof.
Directors: Dana Keidar-Levin, Shirly Sasson-Ezer
2019, 18 minutes
