20th Annual New Jersey Jewish Film Festival

For the safety and health of our community, it has become necessary to postpone our 20th Annual New Jersey Jewish Film Festival set to begin on Thursday, March 19.  We will reschedule the films when we know we can do so safely.  We expect that the modified festival will include screenings throughout the summer, September and October. All purchased tickets will be exchangeable once the new dates are confirmed.

Please contact Sarah Diamond with any questions: (973) 929-2938 or [email protected]

NJ PREMIERE
DOCUMENTARY
Directors: Philippe Bellaiche, Racheal Leah Jones 2019, 114 minutes Israel, Canada, Switzerland / Arabic, Hebrew, English
For five decades, Israeli lawyer Lea Tsemel has defended Palestinians charged with a range of crimes. Now, she and her team are representing Ahmad, a 13-year-old implicated in a knife attack in Jerusalem. He, like other Palestinians charged with serious crimes, will face an unfair trial in a country where, Tsemel says, the government, court system, and media are stacked against him. To many, Tsemel is a traitor who defends the indefensible; to others, she’s a true champion of human rights.
