Yvonne Chen, piano
Violist Mary Ferrillo joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2019. She was previously an active freelancer, playing with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic.
Haitian-American cellist Francesca McNeeley has received critical acclaim as a collaborator and soloist and enjoys an eclectic career in the Boston area. She has premiered dozens of works, solo and chamber music, graduated Princeton University Phi Beta Kappa, and went on to receive scholarships to attend the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and the New England Conservatory.
From performing in hospital hallways to Carnegie Hall, Taiwanese-American pianist Yvonne Chen enjoys programming site-specific performances, as well as creating a logical yet balanced array of music blending the familiar with the unfamiliar, the old and the new, and the traditional with the avant-garde in a single program. A native of suburban Washington, D.C., Dr. Chen received performance degrees from the Juilliard School (New York, NY) and Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music (Houston, TX). A recipient of the 2016 Presser Foundation Graduate Music Award, she founded contemporary music collective Loop38 and performs regularly in Houston as a soloist in arts and music spaces across the city such as Rothko Chapel, the Wortham Center, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
