Shavuot Schedule at J

|

The Jewish holiday of Shavuot begins at sundown this evening, June 11. Shavuot, or Feast of Weeks, is a significant Jewish holiday that commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Israelites at Mount Sinai. Shavuot also has roots in an ancient agricultural festival celebrating the wheat harvest in Israel. The holiday is observed with various customs, including all-night Torah study sessions, the reading of the Book of Ruth, the consumption of dairy foods, and the decoration of homes and synagogues with greenery and flowers. To learn more about Shavuot, click here.

In observance of the holiday, JCC MetroWest will be open as follows:

Wednesday, June 12:

  • Fitness and aquatics will operate as usual
  • Pixie Dust will operate as usual
  • All other programming will be closed, including the Sharon and Stephen Seiden Early Childhood Center and Kids Club, along with our administrative offices

Thursday, June 13:

  • All programming will operate as usual
JCC MetroWest’s administrative offices will be closed

Should you have any questions, please email [email protected]. For building hours and schedules, please click here.
