JCC MetroWest Careers: Director of Arts and Ideas, Full-Time

JCC MetroWest in West Orange, New Jersey is seeking a full-time Director of Arts and Ideas. Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement and Development, the Director of Arts and Ideas is responsible for the vision, development, implementation, operations and evaluation of arts and culture programs, events and Jewish and Israel celebrations of JCC MetroWest.

Responsibilities include:

· Develop and implement innovative and strategic approaches to engagement through arts and culture programming in the Jewish community and beyond

· Plan and execute the New Jersey Jewish Film Festival

· Plan and execute the Jewish Authors and Ideas Series

· Supervise the Director of the Gaelen Art Gallery

· Develop new and innovative classes in the School of the Arts for children and adults

· Coordinate the calendar including both JCC and rental program use, including the scheduling of sound and light technicians for the Maurice Levin Theatre

· Supervise the daily operations of the Maurice Levin Theatre and work with the Director of Facilities to make sure the physical plant operates to expectations

· Work closely with the Director of Community Engagement and Development to identify potential donors and foster donor cultivation, relations and sponsorship

· Work collaboratively with all departments at JCC MetroWest to provide arts and cultural experiences to all cohorts

· Collect and organize data as needed for grants

· Coordinate volunteers as needed

· Attend regional and national meetings as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

· Ability to work professionally and with a positive attitude in a high pressure, fast paced environment

· Be highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-up

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to prioritize and be flexible

· Creative problem solver

· Experience in customer service management and delivery

· Must demonstrate the aptitude and willingness to be a visible and active team player

· Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed/assigned/required and understand that the position calls for intense work periods that may extend over weeks at time

· Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a related field of study is preferred

· Experience in Jewish Communal Work and/or cultural arts is a plus
