When poor health or a disability leaves a senior homebound, he or she has a much greater risk of malnutrition. The Kosher Meals on Wheels program delivers delicious, wholesome meals to this vulnerable population. A typical meal might include hot soup, roast chicken, noodle kugel and sautéed zucchini.
Meals are delivered 5 days per week, with frozen and shelf stable meals provided for weekends and weather emergencies.
The Meals on Wheels driver provides a valuable link to the outside world, and an important check on a participant's well-being. Eligibility will be determined by an in-home assessment.
This program is supported by the Essex County Division on Senior Services and implemented through the collaborative efforts of JCC MetroWest, Daughters of Israel, and Jewish Community Housing Corporation.
