Summer Session: June 5–July 17 • Bonus Class: July 24
Designed for expectant parents, this innovative program combines childbirth education with an exploration of the Jewish traditions and rituals connected with pregnancy, birth and parenting.
Created by JCC MetroWest in partnership with Childbirth Education at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Jewish Baby University (JBU) is a series of six classes with an option of a seventh.
Your meaningful JBU experience will be facilitated by skilled professionals in Jewish Life and an expert in Childbirth Education. Beyond preparing for childbirth and exploring Jewish traditions and values, the curriculum will include: conversations about the postpartum experience, parental expectations, changing identities for both partners as well as relationship building. Your meaningful JBU experience will take you from hospital to home and beyond, as you create intention around your parenting journey.
“It takes a village.” Being equipped to raise your child means more than having the right gear. It means creating a community of support and resources to guide you along your parenting path. During this course you’ll discover an emotional support system, create lasting friendships and connect to the Jewish community in Essex County.
Bringing a child into the world is often a time when you reflect on who you are and how you want to build a Jewish home. JBU will encourage you to explore ways you can create meaningful Jewish traditions for your family, as well as discuss Jewish wisdom and custom surrounding childbirth and parenting.
The nuts and bolts of childbirth! The prepared childbirth series focuses on three important aspects of the birthing experience: educating birth parents about labor and delivery, breathing and relaxation, and preparing the birth partner to help and offer moral support. Veteran parents will also join the group to share their experiences and answer questions.
JOIN THE JBU COMMUNITY! Let’s talk today to find the session that is right for you.
