Congratulations! Enrolling your child in our Grade School Aquatics Programs enters them into a journey to learn how to be safe in, on and around the water and to swim well. The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program consists of six levels of swimming and water safety instruction.
For every level of Learn to Swim, our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming and safety skills and build on previously learned skills. Each class is loaded with fun, engaging and challenging activities that motivate children to want to perform and learn to swim.
Registration for JCC MetroWest Summer Aquatics Programs will open May 29.
Registration for the 2012 - 2013 JCC MetroWest Aquatics School wil open August 9. JCC MetroWest Aquatics School runs September - June and is open to JCC members and the public. JCC Members receive discounted rates on all JCC MetroWest Aquatics School Classes. JCC Aquatics School monthly fees are charged the 13th of each month for the following month's tuition. JCC Member's please note that your JCC discount will be applied when we process your payment

No prerequisites for Level 1. Basic personal water safety information and skills are taught to help participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy water safety. Elementary aquatic skills that are the foundation for future skills are introduced. Swimmers explore movement in the water-bobbing, floating, and gliding. Good attitudes and safe practices in and around the water begin to develop.

Swimmers entering Level 2 must have a Level 1 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 1.Swimmers learn to float without support and explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes.

Swimmers entering Level 3 must have a Level 2 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 2. Swimmers learn to coordinate the front crawl and elementary backstroke. Swimmers are introduced to the scissor and dolphin kicks, the fundamentals of treading water and diving.

Swimmers entering Level 4 must have a Level 3 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 3. Swimmers develop confidence in the strokes learned thus far and increase their endurance by swimming greater distances. The back crawl stroke and breaststroke are introduced.The sidestroke and butterfly are built upon.Several new strokes and skills are introduced in Level 4.
Monthly Fees:

Swimmers entering Level 5 must have a Level 4 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the course requirements in Level 4. Swimmers refine performance of all strokes-front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawlstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly and increase their distances. Flip turns on the front and back are introduced. Expectations are higher in regards to distance and quality. This class is not offered during the Summer Session

Swimmers entering this course must have a Level 5 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the skills required to complete Level 5. In Level 6, expectations are quite high in regards to distance and quality. Personal Water Safety, and Fitness Swimmer are offered at JCC MetroWest. In Personal Water Safety, learn more complex safety skills that may help you survive in an emergency. In Fitness Swimmer, learn principles of training and how to evaluate your own level of fitness. Each of these options focuses on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, such as WSI and WSI Aid, Lifeguard Training, and Swim Team. This class is not offered during the Summer Session.
Enroll your child in our Summer Splash Grade School Aquatics Program and start them on a journey to learn how to be safe in, on and around the water and how to swim well. Our Summer Splash Grade School Aquatics Program meets Monday through Friday for two full weeks - effectively providing your child with two months of swim instruction in a matter of two weeks.

Do you enjoy the water? Are a good swimmer? Want to be a lifeguard or swim instructor? If so...we want to get your training started! Join one of our exciting American Red Cross (ARC) programs-Guard Start or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Aide programs. You must be 11-14 years old and be able to successfully demonstrate the exit skills for ARC Learn-to-Swim Level IV.
